Jean-Marc began his career at Thomson-CSF (now Thales) in 1987. He held various positions in the field of development, including that of Signal Processing Service Manager. From 1997 to 1999, he was Director of the electronic center in Rouen Ymare at Thales, and then Director of the ground radar activity from 2000 to 2001.
At that time, he became Director of Operations of the Aerospace Division Operations Division and, in January 2004, Deputy General Manager of the Avionics Systems Business Group (BGAV). In 2008, Jean-Marc Gardin was leading the Transportation Systems in the Security, Solutions, and Services Division. In 2010, Jean-Marc Gardin joined Telespazio France as Deputy General Manager with the mission of strengthening development and coordinating the various subsidiaries of the group. He became President and CEO of Telespazio France and Deputy General Manager of the Telespazio Group.
